About Niwot

Niwot— This small, unincorporated community occupies only about two square miles lying between Boulder and Longmont just off The Diagonal Highway (Hwy. 119). Niwot was named after Chief Niwot and means “left hand.” Niwot’s four thousand residents enjoy the special ambiance of its small town ways. People know their neighbors in Niwot and hold many community sporting and social events. The old town area on Second Avenue is now filled with antique stores, restaurants, restored buildings, and quaint shops--a great place for a casual Sunday afternoon stroll. It is always festive during the holidays and a great place to shop for that unusual item.

The town is carefully setting a course for growth, and has an active community association that keeps its residents up-to-date on current concerns and development plans.
