About Louisville
Louisville – The city of Louisville is a Colorado municipality with approximately nineteen-thousand residents. The city, incorporated in 1882, lies in Boulder County roughly six miles east of the City of Boulder and twenty-five miles northwest of Denver. At this time, the city owns, either alone or in conjunction with other governmental entities, approximately seventeen hundred acres of designated open space.
First established as a coal town, immigrants of many nationalities came to work the mines and in its heyday, sixteen trains a day passed through Louisville on their way to Boulder, Eldorado Springs, and Denver.
The residential size of the city is not likely to grow significantly as there is little room for more housing. However, commercial and industrial growth is expected, as there is room for both in Centennial Valley and the Colorado Tech Center.
